MEET THE OWNER

Laura Kay House was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and has lived in Atlanta, GA; Marblehead, MA; Baltimore/Annapolis, MD and now for 19 years, is happy to call the Triangle area of North Carolina home.

Ms. House has an undergraduate degree in Social Work and a minor in Psychology.  She also has a Master’s degree in Gerontology. Her expertise is working with the biology and psychology of aging, grief and loss, the positive benefits of socializing on physical and mental health and reinventing one's life after 55.  Laura Kay’s experience is also in bereavement, working as a lifestyle facilitator in real estate for exclusively those age 50+ and was also a flight attendant for Delta Air Lines for almost 20 years.

After many years of research and planning, Ms. House concluded that there were limited opportunities available for those 55 and over, who were active, to meet others who were also single after the death of a spouse, divorce or never married.  Laura Kay wanted to provide quality events and travel as opportunities to meet others of the same age, with similar experiences, in a safe and pressure-free environment that was not a dating service.  She took her vision, past experience and education and began Silver Connections as a full time business in 2007.  Numerous socializing opportunities are provided for members through local events along with various travel experiences, while stressing personal service and a sense of community within membership.

Laura Kay volunteers with The Caring House, Wreaths Across America, several Dog Rescues as well as is involved in many other organizations. Silver Connections was awarded the SearStone Ageless Hero Award for "Business of the Year" in 2016.  Ms. House was a distinguished Potter's Hand Senior Advocacy Award honoree in 2011 and was awarded the Womens Etc.! Award in 2009 as a Triangle, NC community entrepreneur.
